Sport First Aid Course

We are currently taking registrations for our upcoming Sport First Aid and A.E.D. course.

The course will be delivered mostly online, followed by a 2-hour in-person session in Clonakilty on Saturday 2nd of September. Participants can complete the online training elements in their own time, provided that they do so prior to the in-person session.

Price: €75 per person
(€10 discount for attendees of the August Instructors’ Course)

Please note that places are very limited, and registration of interest is not a guarantee of acceptance on to the course. Applicants accepted to the course will be contacted with a request for their payment, and payment must be made in full before 5pm on Friday 18th of August.

Course Details

On completion of training course, successful students should be able to:

• Understand the role of the first aider
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Know how to assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
• Administer first aid to a casualty with a major bleed
• Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes)
• Understand the anatomy and physiology of a sports injury
• Have a thorough understanding of management of a fracture or dislocation and soft tissue injury
• Have a thorough understanding of management of a head injury
  Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, small splinters)All successful students will receive a certificate in Sport First Aid and A.E.D. from the course provider, First Aid Coaching.
