Our Instructors

Mr. Dan O’Mahony

V Degree

Dan began his training in Tae Kwon Do under the instruction of Mr. Brian Buckley at his club in Clonakilty in the mid-1990’s. In his early thirties at the time, Dan took to Tae Kwon Do immediately; having previously trained for a number of years in Shotokan Karate, many of the basic techniques were already familiar to him due to the similarity of these arts.

In the year prior to his First Degree Black Belt exam, Dan began training in the advanced class at Mr. Buckley’s Skibbereen club, affording him the opportunity to train with more students of his grade. Dan was awarded his First Degree by Great Southern Tae Kwon Do in 1999, having passed his exam under Master Norman Creedon, President of the Tae Kwon Do Federation of Ireland.

Grading under Master David Oliver, President of Tae Kwon Do International, Dan has since been awarded his Second, Third and Fourth Degree Black Belts. He opened his first club in Rosscarbery, County Cork, shortly after receiving his First Degree and since then has gone on to open many more as well as re-opening the Clonakilty club which Mr. Buckley had since closed down, forming the Warrior Tae Kwon Do Schools that we know today.

In 2011, Dan graded to Fifth Degree Black Belt under Master Clive Harrison.

Over the past fifteen years, Dan also held the posts of coach to the Tae Kwon Do International Irish team and Vice President of Tae Kwon Do International Ireland; he is now Chief Instructor and President of the Warrior Martial Arts Association.

Mr. Barry O’Mahony

IV Degree

Barry commenced his study of Tae Kwon Do at the Clonakilty club at the same time as his father, Dan.

He has competed in numerous national tournaments throughout the years, as well as a number of international events, including the 2000, 2001, 2004, 2011 and 2012 World Championships.

Barry was examined by Master David Oliver for his First, Second and Third Degree Black Belt grades and was awarded the Best Grading Award by Master Oliver at his Second Degree exam. He opened his first club in 2005 in Innishannon, County Cork.

Barry passed his Fourth Degree Black Belt exam under Master Clive Harrison in 2011 and is now Vice President and Director of Instructor Training for the Warrior Martial Arts Association.

Mr. Dwayne Crowley

III Degree

Having trained as child with Mr Buckley, Dwayne had reached the rank of Red Stripe prior to the closure of his local club. After a long break from training, Dwayne heard about Barry O’Mahony’s club in Innishannon and, at the age of 16, returned to Tae Kwon Do.

A dedicated and hard-working student, Dwayne trained with single-minded determination to re-learn the techniques of the martial art and to make his way up through the grades. It wasn’t long before Dwayne was on-course to Black Belt and picking up numerous trophies and medals at tournaments along the way. Dwayne is now a Third Degree Black Belt, having successfully graded under Master Clive Harrison in 2012.

In 2011 Dwayne took Gold at the World Allstyles Championships and in 2013 he was appointed Head Coach and Director of Athletic Performance for the Warrior Martial Arts Association.

Mrs. Anne O’Mahony

III Degree

Anne, having spent years listening to her husband Dan and son Barry talk constantly about martial arts, finally decided to begin training in Dan’s club in Clonakilty.

Having trained for a number of years in Shotokan Karate in her late teens and twenties (where she met Dan) and being a keen sportswoman, regularly playing soccer and rugby, Anne’s focus and determination helped her to not only progress steadily through the ranks, but also, as a relative latecomer to Tae Kwon Do competition, to win a number of awards at both regional and international level.

Anne works as Assistant Instructor in a number of Dan’s clubs and served as Head Coach to the Irish team at the ICKKF Allstyles World Championships in 2012.

Mrs. O’Mahony was awarded her Third Degree Black Belt in 2013 by Master Clive Harrison.

Ms. Claire McCarthy

III Degree

Claire’s career in Tae Kwon Do goes back as long as any other instructor in the Association; she began training at the same time as Dan O’Mahony and her first cousin Barry in the Clonakilty and Skibbereen clubs.

Claire graded to First Degree Black Belt with Barry under Master Oliver and later passed her Second Degree, again under Master Oliver.

She worked as an assistant instructor with Dan in Rosscarbery from a young age. Even as a child, Claire’s technical precision was always noted by her instructors and this level of ability has made her a valuable asset to the teaching staff at Warrior Martial Arts.

After a number of years out of training due to other commitments such as college and work, Claire returned to both studying and teaching Tae Kwon Do. She opened her first club in the village of Leap, West Cork, during the 2012-2013 season and was awarded her Third Degree Black Belt in 2013 by Master Clive Harrison.
