Warrior Tae Kwon Do

At Warrior Tae Kwon Do, we aim to provide our students with a well-rounded experience of the art of Tae Kwon Do. We allow students to progress at a pace which suits them, while providing careful instruction and encouragement along the way. We ensure that students of all ages and levels of ability feel welcome at our schools and we strive to help them as they work towards their goals.

We like to keep an open mind when it comes to developing new training methods. As a result, we have a constantly evolving syllabus, which is frequently adapted to incorporate the latest developments and innovations in sports / fitness training and in self defence. We regularly cross-train in a variety of martial arts, often attending and hosting seminars in various different styles. We use these opportunities to improve our own system, ensuring that we can provide our students with some of the best, most effective and realistic self defence training available.

Through our unique syllabus, we have developed a system which we believe is second to none in terms of martial arts instruction. We work with our students to improve not only their fitness and martial arts technique, but also to develop their confidence in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.

We began as a single school in the town of Rosscarbery, County Cork over ten years ago. Head Instructor, Dan O’Mahony (then a First Degree Black Belt) opened this, his first club, in the small Parish Hall, where he would teach every Saturday assisted occasionally by a group of First Degree Black Belts, including his son, Barry.

As time went by, Dan opened more clubs throughout the West Cork region, as well as re-opening the Clonakilty Tae Kwon Do club.

Eventually, due to the growing commitment Dan owed to his clubs and his desire bring the art of Tae Kwon Do to a wider audience, Dan resigned from his job to become a full-time instructor.

Having served a long apprenticeship as an assistant instructor in Dan’s clubs, Barry launched his own club in Innishannon in 2005 and a second club in Ballinhassig in 2006.

The Warrior Tae Kwon Do Schools always encourage and support students in their efforts to further their knowledge and development within the martial art. For those with a desire to teach others, the schools offer students the experience to train as instructors. Part of this training includes a term of ‘apprenticeship’ as an assistant instructor in one or a number of schools. The Warrior Tae Kwon Do Schools currently have a large number of students of all ages part-taking in this programme, some of whom may go on in the near future to open schools of their own.
