Master Harrison promoted to 8th Dan
All of us at Warrior Martial Arts would like to give our congratulations to our Black Belt Examiner, Master Clive Harrison on his recent promotion to 8th Dan (8th Black Belt).
Warrior instructors Dan & Anne O’Mahony had the honour and pleasure of attending Master Harrison’s grading examination, which took place at the Martial Art World academy in Andover, England.
Traditionally, the grades of 7th Dan and above are awarded to Black Belts on an honorary basis, in recognition of the individual’s contributions to the martial art, and this is still commonplace in most Tae Kwon Do clubs. Master Harrison has, however, gone above and beyond the normal requirements for both his 7th and now 8th Dan grades, by taking to the floor and completing a full physical testing. At 61, Master Harrison took it upon himself to participate in a thorough grading examination, demonstrating the full range of the Tae Kwon Do syallabus, including patterns, sparring and board breaking in front of an assembled crowd of friends and colleagues, including the Head Examiner on the day, Grandmaster Ted Hopwood (9th Dan).
To see our Black Belt Examiner leading by example has been a great inspiration to all of us. Congratulations Master Harrison.
